Raquel is a Licensed Clinical professional counselor and I’m thankful that she sat down with me to share her story as an immigrant, and a mom raising bi-cultural kids and to talk about mental health especially in the year 2020. We recorded this episode at the end of last summer 2020, so a little bit ago, but I think everything she shared is still very relatable today.
As Latinas or even as immigrants, mental health is not easily discussed for fear of feeling weak, or ungrateful. This is why it was so great to sit down and talk openly about mental health, something that is starting to become more normalized. I love how she shares how it’s never too late to create your own destiny, and really helps us start thinking about how we can make small step toward change by starting within our own home.
